Noticeboard for 24th August
Sunday, 22 August 2010
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the tragic death of John Sherlock the Secretary of the Roscommon District League and recently elected vice Chairman of the FAI Junior Council following a road accident last Sunday morning. John was the nicest man you could ever meet and he was a great friend to the AUL. His loss to football in Roscommon will be felt throughout the County and his loss as a great person will be even greater. Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family and may he rest in peace.
Premier A pacesetters Killester United have made it three out of three when they came from behind to beat Whitehall Celtic 4-1. St.Pauls Artane ruined Ballymun United’s 100% record when they beat them 3-2. WFTA beat Baldoyle United in Baldoyle 2-1 and St.Kevins Boys travelled to Dundalk and beat Bellurgan. O’Devaney/Dunard got their campaign off the ground with a 0-0 draw at home to Corduff.
Premier B sees Howth Celtic and Mellowes share top spot. Both had good wins on Sunday, Howth beat Ashbourne United 1-0 and Mellowes travelled out to Whitestown United and won 4-1. Darndale Rovers beat Anto Devlins East Wall Bessboro 2-0 up in the Complex and Shangan Athletic had a fine 2-2 draw away to Blessington. Seaview Celtic and Kilbarrack United both had good wins.
Premier C league leader Hardwick United had a narrow 1-0 win away to Rivervalley Rangers and Landen United Dingle United Foxfield United and Shelbourne/Ayrfield also had good wins in this division. Trinity Donaghmede and Castleknock Celtic shared the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Senior Sunday newcomers Whyteleaf had a convincing 3-1 win over Shamrock Celtic while other newcomers FC Blanch preserved their 100% record with a 3-0 win over Orchard United. Marks Celtic and Grange Woodbine also had good wins.
Remember Amateur Airtricity players can transfer from the Airtricity League up to the end of August it is only professional players who cannot move as their transfer window is closed.
The FAI ticket office have said they will address the issues we have with our allocation after the Andora game so we ask all our clubs to be patient and wait till after the game on Sept 7th. Also any clubs wishing to join our block booking should contact Tony Duffy on complex@aul.ie immediately and get on out ticket allocation. This superb Stadium will be packed to the rafters for the Andora game and these are the fans who will get the tickets for the Russia game in Oct and all the other qualifiers. Don’t miss out on this journey which will end up with Ireland qualifying for Poland in 2012.
With the new season in full swing now we would like to remind all clubs that you must use your Umbro Footballs. Each club will be given 2 footballs per team and they are in the Complex with Tony Duffy awaiting collection. Fines will be issued for breach of this rule. Referees to report same on match card.
Remember get your club prepared early. Collect your Player Registration Forms and have your players signed in plenty of time. Use only the new individual forms. Be careful if a player is signed and registered with another club this season and even if he does not kick a ball for them he must get a transfer from that club. Remember a player can sign for three clubs but can only play for two. Amateur players can still be transferred from the Airtricity League until the end of August.
It is very important that every club in the League enter a team into the Umbro F A I Junior Cup next season. Forms can be obtained from the Complex or on www.fai.ie. The sponsors Umbro deserve all the support we can give them. Closing date is August 31st.
Teams should also support the O Neill’s sponsored Leinster Junior Cup and Shield. Closing date is August 31st.
If you are interested in becoming a Referee contact the Recruitment Officer, Football Association of Ireland, 01 8999500. There are a few new courses coming up in September.
